Fourteen years after the release of the first Christmas album, the follow-up was released. Elvis had recorded all the songs at his May sessions in Nashville, where the studio was temporarily transformed into a Christmas scene with brightly wrapped boxes (all empty) under a gaily decorated Christmas tree. Memphis Mafia stalwart Lamar Fike even dressed up as Santa Claus. Like the first album, this one made little more than a small seasonal splash at first, but within a few years had sold half-a-million copies and has now passed the three-million mark.
